The original poem's canto 21 describes the two pilgrims
continuing their journey through the fifth terrace
of purgatorio where the greedy are serving their penanace.
One person encountered here is Statius, a Roman
poet from the first century, who is about to ascend to heaven
after spending hundreds of years stuck on this terrace.
